The Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony provides an enjoyable viewing experience of the blue penguins and also supports their conservation and research. Monitoring of the penguins began in 1993 and has continued since. The Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony employs a scientist and is one of the few Eco-tourism operations to do so, for more information see the ‘’Monitoring’ and ‘Scientist’ pages.

We are also associated with the Green Globe programme, this is an organization that sets global environmental standards within the tourism and travel industry.
