Penguin Arrival and Numbers graph

Penguins arrive ashore in increasing numbers as the breeding season approaches. As penguins usually arrive shortly after dusk, viewing times will vary according to the season - spring, summer, autumn, winter.

The best time to see the greatest number of birds is between November and January, however, birds do come ashore nearly every evening during the year. Birds are also ashore during the day at times related to their breeding cycle – egg laying and incubation, moulting, and intermittently at other times.
